This post isn’t just about Georgia Classic Pool. That story is told throughout our website and across our social media. This is about who I am—the man behind the business—and what truly drives me.
Faith First
Before anything else, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. My faith in Him is the foundation of my life. It shapes how I lead, how I treat others, and how I respond to both success and suffering. I believe God owns everything, and I am simply a steward—of time, resources, relationships, and the work He’s entrusted to me.
Family is Everything
I’ve been married to my wife Kim for over 40 years. She is my greatest blessing and the love of my life. Together we’ve raised four incredible children—Ashley, Emily, Whitley, and Andrew—and we’re now Nana and Pop Pop to nine amazing grandchildren (soon to be ten). One of the greatest honors of my life is that three of my grandchildren have been named after me—James (Jackson James, Surrey James, and Braxton James).
At the end of the day, nothing brings me more joy than being surrounded by my family. That’s what gives meaning to everything else.
The Battle I Never Saw Coming
In June 2024, my life changed in an instant. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer that attacks the bone marrow. By the time it was caught, it had taken over more than 80% of my bone marrow.
It hit me fast. Just months earlier, Kim and I had been hiking through the Swiss Alps—full of strength and energy, walking miles every day. Suddenly, I found myself barely able to stand or walk, in constant pain, with bones deteriorating from within.
I underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and a stem cell transplant. It was the hardest battle I’ve ever faced, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. And yet—God never left me. My faith grew deeper. My gratitude became sharper. My priorities became clearer.
Today, I’m in remission. But this is a lifelong fight. I face it with hope, and I move forward with peace and renewed purpose—because I know I’m not walking alone.
A Gift Before the Storm
Amazingly, just before this chapter began, Kim and I shared what I can only describe as the most incredible two months of our lives. We traveled for 62 days through Europe—nine countries, 46 cities, over 300 miles walked and hiked. From the beauty of the Swiss Alps to the heart of Northern Italy, it was a dream come true and a gift from God that we will always cherish.
Looking back, I believe God gave us that time as a blessing—one we didn’t know we would need so soon.
If you’d like to see a glimpse of that journey, I invite you to watch the video above.
Gratitude Always
If you’re reading this, thank you. Whether you’re a client, a friend, or someone just curious about the person behind Georgia Classic Pool—I appreciate you.
Life is short. Family is everything. And God is good.
