Georgia Classic Pool’s Andrew Dover Earns Certified Pool & Spa Building Professional Certification

Georgia Classic Pool is proud to announce that Andrew Dover has earned the Certified Pool & Spa Building Professional (CBP) designation from the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), powered by GENESIS®.

Andrew serves in several key roles at Georgia Classic Pool, including Designer, Project Manager, and Construction Manager for Outdoor Living. The CBP certification adds another level of professional education and industry knowledge to the experience Andrew brings to our clients and their projects.

What Is the PHTA Certified Builder Professional Certification?

The Certified Builder Professional (CBP) is a nationally recognized professional designation and the first level of the PHTA Certified Pool Builder & Design Professional Pathway.

The certification is designed to establish a strong foundation in swimming pool construction and professional practices. To earn the designation, candidates must complete qualifying GENESIS® construction education, meet PHTA requirements for ethical conduct and professionalism, and successfully pass the CBP Professional Exam demonstrating competency in pool and spa construction.

For Andrew, earning the designation represents both an accomplishment and a commitment to continuing his professional education within the swimming pool and outdoor living industry.

Extensive Education in Swimming Pool Construction

The GENESIS® construction education required for the CBP designation goes well beyond the basics of building a swimming pool.

The concrete pool construction curriculum addresses the many disciplines involved in constructing a structurally sound swimming pool, including site analysis, pool plumbing, fluid engineering, geotechnical and structural engineering, electrical considerations, excavation, shotcrete, waterproofing, tile and coping, concrete decking, interior finishes, pool startup, and project closeout.

The program is designed to take professionals through the different phases of concrete swimming pool construction and provide a deeper understanding of how those individual components work together in a successful project.

Bringing Together Design, Project Management and Construction

Andrew’s role at Georgia Classic Pool is unique because his responsibilities cross several important areas of a project.

As a Designer, Andrew works with homeowners to help transform ideas for their backyard into a cohesive swimming pool and outdoor living design.

As a Project Manager, he helps take those plans from the design stage into construction, coordinating the many details involved in bringing a project to completion.

As Construction Manager for Outdoor Living, Andrew oversees important elements that can transform a swimming pool into a complete backyard environment—including hardscapes, outdoor structures, patios, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens and other outdoor living features.

Having experience on both the design and construction sides gives Andrew the ability to think beyond how a project will look on a computer screen. He can also consider how it will be built, how the different elements will work together, and how design decisions can affect construction in the field.

A Strong Foundation in Construction Management

Andrew’s CBP designation builds upon his existing construction education and experience.

Andrew earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Kennesaw State University before continuing to develop his career at Georgia Classic Pool.

That combination of formal construction education, hands-on experience, design work, project management and industry-specific certification gives Andrew a broad perspective when working with homeowners on complex swimming pool and outdoor living projects.

What Does This Mean for Georgia Classic Pool Clients?

Building a custom swimming pool involves much more than choosing a shape, finish and water features.

Every project requires hundreds of decisions involving the property, elevations, drainage, structures, plumbing, materials, equipment, construction sequencing and the integration of the pool with the surrounding outdoor environment.

That’s one reason Georgia Classic Pool believes strongly in continuing education.

Having a Certified Pool & Spa Building Professional on the Georgia Classic Pool team provides another layer of professional knowledge behind the projects we design and build.

It also reinforces a philosophy we’ve followed for years:

Great design and great construction should work together from the very beginning.

Our goal isn’t simply to design a beautiful swimming pool. It’s to create a complete outdoor environment that complements the home, fits the property and is thoughtfully planned for how our clients want to live outdoors.

Continuing to Raise the Standard

Since 2007, Georgia Classic Pool has designed and built custom swimming pools and outdoor living spaces throughout North Georgia.

Over the years, swimming pool design and construction have become increasingly sophisticated. Today’s projects can incorporate spas, water features, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, covered structures, extensive hardscapes, landscaping, lighting and other elements into one integrated backyard environment.

That makes education, construction knowledge and experienced project management more important than ever.

Andrew’s achievement reflects Georgia Classic Pool’s ongoing commitment to investing in our people and continually improving the knowledge and expertise we bring to every project.

We are proud to congratulate Andrew Dover, CBP, on earning the Certified Pool & Spa Building Professional designation from the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance.

It’s a significant professional accomplishment—and we’re excited to see Andrew continue building on it in the years ahead.

Congratulations, Andrew!
